What Does Breathwork Do?
Breathwork is a transformative modality for reprogramming both the body and mind, allowing us to break free from old patterns, release emotional blockages, and step into a more empowered, aligned version of ourselves.
Considered a bottom-up approach to healing, it works by addressing unconscious patterns stored in the body and nervous system. These patterns often result from past trauma, stress, or unresolved emotions, and are held in the tissues, muscles, and nervous system, creating tension, emotional blockages, and imbalances. Over time, these stored emotions can manifest as chronic pain, anxiety, depression, emotional stagnation and autoimmune disorders.
While therapy can be incredibly valuable, it often requires navigating through the cognitive mind and processing memories and emotions intellectually, which can sometimes feel limiting or challenging. Breathwork works directly with the body and subconscious, facilitating emotional release and healing that may be difficult to reach through the thinking mind alone. In breathwork, we use an active, intentional breathing pattern that bypasses the analytical thinking part of the brain and accesses altered states of consciousness. This process connects us with the subconscious layers where emotions, memories, and trauma are stored, creating space for deep healing and release. Some studies have shown that breathwork can have similar effects to those seen in psychedelic therapies, where altered states facilitate profound emotional breakthroughs, enhanced self-awareness, and the release of deeply held trauma.
Through this practice, we can release stored tension and trauma held in the body, shedding layers of protection built over years. As we breathe, we invite trust, healing, and the free flow of life force energy while shedding layers of protection built over years to foster a sense of wholeness.

Breathwork & Trauma Release
Trauma is real, and at some point, it touches us all. Injury, violence, and life-threatening events transcend age, race, and economic status. In fact, trauma is the leading cause of death for individuals between the ages of 1 and 44. Trauma is not just the event itself; it’s the lasting physical and emotional impact left on our mind, body, and nervous system.
Trauma occurs when any experience overwhelms the body’s capacity to cope, altering our brain, body, and sense of safety and creating patterns that can persist long after the event. These patterns are the body's way of trying to protect itself, but they can also become barriers to healing, preventing us from fully engaging with life and processing emotions in a healthy way
When these overwhelming experiences aren't fully processed, they settle into our tissues, manifesting as tension, pain, anxiety, sleep disturbances, autoimmune issues, agitation, relationship challenges, chronic health conditions, depression, and the list goes on. These unresolved emotional and physical imprints can disrupt our daily lives, affecting our ability to feel safe, connected, and in control. Over time, they can limit our potential for growth, happiness, and overall well-being.
Trauma dysregulates the autonomic nervous system (ANS), leaving us stuck in a cycle of constant activation (fight-or-flight) or shutdown (freeze). This can "freeze" the body in time, trapping us in a perpetual state of heightened alertness or numbness.
Breathwork helps by actively engaging the nervous system, guiding it through controlled states of activation and rest. This titration process allows the body to safely process and release stored trauma, "completing" the trauma response that may have been interrupted during the original event.
By combining breathwork with other somatic modalities—such as bodywork, meditation, sound, and emotional expression—we activate the body’s natural healing mechanisms, reestablishing balance and releasing trapped energy, ultimately restoring the nervous system to a state of equilibrium. Unlike other modalities that focus primarily on the mind, breathwork works directly with the body’s innate capacity to heal, making it particularly effective for trauma release.

What can Arise during a session?
During a breathwork journey, a variety of physical sensations, emotions, thoughts, and spiritual experiences may arise. The key is to stay present and breathe through these moments, allowing them to flow through the body with compassion and openness. As you breathe, you become a loving witness to whatever surfaces, whether it's tears, laughter, shaking, or movement. These releases are a natural part of the process, creating space for profound shifts. Many people experience epiphanies, a deeper sense of connection to their energetic field, and even a profound oneness with Life or the Divine. Trust in the process and allow whatever needs to unfold
1:1 Somatic Breathwork Session
Somatic sessions combine therapeutic coaching with breath, body awareness, movement, conscious touch, mindfulness, sound and expressive art to help you connect more fully to your body and the messages it is sending.
If you're struggling to find safety in your body, feeling trapped in racing thoughts, disconnected from your emotions, or unable to fully connect with intimacy or your partner, a somatic session may be exactly what you need. It’s ideal for those experiencing emotional numbness, physical tension, or having walls up that block deeper connection. Through somatic work, you’ll learn to reconnect with your body, release these protective layers and tension, and create space for emotional healing and presence in your relationships.
In a somatic session I work with help you access and understand the subtle sensations in your body by learning what is called the “felt sense.”
Most of the time, we get so caught up in our thoughts that we become "talking heads," disconnected from what our bodies are truly experiencing while we are talking. By slowing down and tuning into the sensations within, we can allow the body to express and process what has been held inside. This dialogue with the body helps uncover deeper meanings behind tension, emotions, and patterns. This is where the power of somatic work lies: it bridges the gap between what your mind is processing and what your body is storing.
Movement is used to facilitate the release of emotional and physical blockages through the body’s natural rhythms. Movement is guided by somatic and creative practices, including body-based exercises, playful warm-ups, organic tremors, undulating spinal waves, and other spontaneous movements.
Conscious touch and soft-tissue manipulation is used to work with the body's seven belts of tension—areas where emotional and physical stress accumulate. These tension zones often correspond to emotions like fear, grief, or anger. Through gentle, mindful touch, we support the release of energy stored in these areas, inviting a flow of circulation and energy where it has been cut off or stagnated.
I offer 75 minute sessions held in-person in Los Angeles, CA or online.

Most people can do CCB (conscious connected breathwork). But I do not recommended for anyone under 18 years of age. Please read through the list of internationally-recognized Breathwork Contraindications below.
IMPORTANT: If you are contraindicated for breathwork, you will unfortunately not be able to journey at this time without a doctor’s note. In the instance of pregnancy or asthma you can sign-up for an experience and you will be given a gentle, modified breath instead.
BREATHWORK CONTRAINDICATIONS
Breathwork results in certain specific physiological changes in the body and also can result in intense physical and emotional release. As a precaution, the following conditions are contraindicated in certain breathwork practices:
Severe PTSD
Pregnancy (at any stage)
Actively using recreational drugs
Prescription blood thinners or anti-clotting medications
Osteoporosis
Detached Retina or Glaucoma
Untreated High Blood Pressure
Cardiovascular disease, including angina, previous heart attack, or any other cardiovascular issues
Strokes or TIAs

You’re welcome to start with a single session if that feels right for you. However, I recommend committing to a series of 6 sessions for the most transformative experience. We offer special pricing for packages of 3, 6, or 9 sessions, all of which must be used within 12 months. You can choose to focus on breathwork, somatic healing, or therapeutic coaching—or a combination of all.
Please note: Your first session will include an intake to assess your readiness for a full breathwork session. Many clients begin with shorter, more gentle sessions as their nervous systems may be too dysregulated for a full experience. This is completely normal and still highly effective. Even mini breathwork sessions can offer profound insights and release by allowing for slow, mindful inquiry into the body.
Together, we’ll create the safest and most supportive healing journey for you.

The breathwork modalities I engage with, all centered around conscious connected breathing in my journey classes, each carry a unique intention: I use a mix of these modalities below.
Somatic Breathwork: A method incorporating slower conscious connected breathwork with added body movement, fostering a deeper connection between breath and body and healing.
Rebirthing: Focuses on inner child healing and releasing traumas through conscious connected breathing, promoting emotional healing and self-awareness. Used in longer 1:1 sessions and 6-12 week class programs.
Holotropic Breathwork: Involves deep and fast active breathing to induce altered states of consciousness, facilitating self-discovery and emotional healing.
